Matthew Guenther is the Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager for TAL Apparel, a multi-national garment manufacturer. He oversees the implementation of the company’s environmental strategy with a focus on decarbonizing the company’s operations, reducing fresh water use, and eliminating waste. Previously, he was the Sustainability Manager for Williams-Sonoma, a home furnishing retailer, working to incentivize the use of more sustainable raw materials, such as wood and cotton, and identifying opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint of it’s manufacturing base across Asia. He is an active member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, working to build tools to measure, manage, and reduce the environmental footprint of the global textile industry. He holds a MSc in Environmental Policy from Bard College, and an BA in International Relations from Bilkent University. He currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand.
